(Scroll down for video) A man became furious when his dog took his girlfriend’s side during an argument.

People at the Gulf Coast Humane Society in Florida, are furious after learning one of their dogs was viciously killed after being adopted by who they thought were loving people.

26-year-old Mike Lado told officers that he stabbed his girlfriend’s dog because the pet always took his girlfriend’s side during arguments, according to police in Lee County.

Lado was arrested on charges of animal cruelty after he stabbed his girlfriend’s boxer-Labrador mix, named Blue, twice with a kitchen knife.

The woman told police that her boyfriend had been out drinking earlier that night, and when he returned home, the two got into an argument.

The dog was standing next to the woman and was protecting her as it barked and growled at Lado.

Ledo was angry at the dog for taking his girlfriend’s side rather than his side so he grabbed a large knife and stabbed the dog twice. The dog collapsed and died.

Detectives found a pool of blood in the kitchen, and a path down the hallway, which suggested that Blue tried to escape.

Ledo is being held at the Lee County Jail, on $5,000 bond.
