A beauty pageant winner was busted smuggling drugs to a dealer in prison, according to police in Kentucky.

Allen County police said that they have arrested 28-year-old Kia B. Hampton, after being caught smuggling drugs into the Allen-Oakwood Correctional Institution.

Hampton has been charged with illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse onto the grounds of a specified governmental facility.

She was booked into the Allen County Jail.

If convicted, Hampton faces up to three years in prison.

Hampton crowned the Miss Kentucky USA in 2011, and was the first black woman selected to represent Miss Kentucky in the Miss USA Pageant.

According to the police investigation, officers at the Allen-Oakwood Correctional Institution became suspicious after Hampton visited Jeremy Kelly.

Kelly was convicted of drug trafficking, and was sentenced to serve 4 years in prison.

Police intercepted Kelly’s phone calls, and as a result, they secured a strip and body cavity search warrant against Hampton.

The next time Hampton arrived at the prison, she was pulled aside for the search.

Officers noticed that Hampton put her hands into her pants, and pushed out a white balloon, which contained 2.82 grams of marijuana.
