(Scroll down for video) A police department in the United Kingdom, recorded one of its officers walking straight into a road sign, according to a video that was uploaded to the Internet.

The Roadside Policing Unit of the Merseyside Police, uploaded the video of the incident on Twitter, where it went viral.

The video shows the police officer in his full uniform, patrolling the street. The officer, who was not identified, was seen engaging with someone before walking away.

The officer was looking sideways while walking, and headed straight into the speed limit road sign. The officer hit his head, but walked away from the scene.

After taking a few steps, the officer straightened his hat. The 40 speed limit road sign remained intact.

The Roads Policing Unit‏ wrote on Twitter: “Always pay attention to the road ahead!”

Police indicated that the officer will be subject to a “cake fine,” meaning that he would have to pay for a cake, which will be shared by his colleagues.

“Please don’t retweet as it will only make for further embarrassment. No sign posts were hurt in the making of this video. #PostsHaveRightsTo,” police wrote on Twitter.

Police later released an update, writing: “The officer is fine, although with dented pride. He will be a bit lighter in the wallet after paying his cake fine.”
