A man who was cleared after being falsely accused of murdering a child, was jailed after forcing his girlfriend to have sex with him.

Alberto Garcia of Harrison County, Mississippi, killed 5-year-old Janaya Thompson in 2014.

He attempted to pin the crime on 34-year-old Julian Casper Gray, according to District Attorney Joel Smith.

Gray became a person of interest in the sexual assault and murder of Thompson.

He was investigated but detectives never found credible evidence linking Gray to the murder.

A grand jury finally released him from the charges in the case.

Garcia eventually pleaded guilty to capital murder in the case and Judge Lisa Dodson sentenced him to death.

While investigating Gray, detectives found evidence of child exploitation when they searched his apartment and cell phone.

Chief Assistant District Attorney Crosby Parker said that during a forensic examination of Gray’s cell phone, “over 100 images of child pornography were found.”

During their investigation, police also learned that Gray forced his then girlfriend to have sex with him against her will.

Although she did not report the crime at the time, the woman told police that she ended the relationship with Gray a few months later.

Gray pleaded guilty to forcible sexual intercourse and exploitation of a child.

Judge Robert Clark sentenced Gray to serve 30 years in prison, with 10 years suspended. This sentence forces him to serve 20 years without the possibility of parole.
