83-year-old woman hires hitman to kill her ex daughter-in-law

(Scroll down for video) An elderly woman in Plainfield, New Hampshire, was arrested after police said that she hired a man to kill her former daughter-in-law.

The man went to police to report that the woman offered to pay him in order to kill her former daughter-in-law.

Police fitted the man with a recording device before he meet with 83-year-old Pauline Chase and her 63-year-old son Maurice Temple, who live in the same house.

During the meeting, the woman handed over $5,000 as a down payment for the murder.

Police then went inside the home, and arrested the mother and son.

According to police, Temple divorced his wife Jean, and was ordered to give her several thousand dollars in the divorce settlement.

Instead of handing over the money, he and his mother conspired to have the ex-wife killed.

Chase and her son were charged with conspiracy to commit murder, solicitation to commit murder and attempt to commit murder.

They are being held on $1 million bail each.
