(Scroll down for video) A wedding photographer won a $1.8 million lawsuit against a former client after they aired their grievances in public.

Andrew and Neely Moldovan of Dallas, Texas, hired well respected photographer Andrea Polito, to take photos at their wedding three years ago.

The bride and groom asked for their photos via email.

Polito responded that they still have to choose a cover photo before the album was complete. As stated in their contract, the couple would receive their pictures once their album was done.

However, the couple did not realize that there was an additional $125 fee for the cover and they objected to the charge.

Polito said that she planned on waving the fee, but before she had a chance to talk to the bride and groom, they went to the media.

The couple falsely claimed that the photographer was holding their photos hostage.

According to the lawsuit, the couple made “disparaging and defamatory” statements to news media, on social media and blogs.

People began harassing, bullying and humiliating Polito, according to court records.

The couple’s allegations ruined Polito’s great reputation and her successful business, which she had spent 13 years building.

She went from doing 75 and 100 weddings a year to only two weddings the year following the accusations, and she had no businesses since then.

On Friday, a jury found the couple liable for defamation, disparagement and civil conspiracy, and ordered the couple to pay $1.8 million in damages.

The couple can appeal the ruling. Polito said that although it will be hard to actually get the money, for her it’s about getting her reputation back.
