Lock was taught how to shoot by the People’s Defence Units, and was sent to fight in the front lines.

As he saw ISIS fighters approaching his position, Lock shot himself in the head in order to avoid being captured alive by the terrorists.

Jon Plater told the panel, that one day, he found a picture of ISIS fighters standing next to his son’s dead body.

Lock’s mother Catherine, told the panel that before her son left, he told her that he was going backpacking in Turkey.

He later changed his story, and said that he was training to be a chef in Syria.

When Lock’s body was returned to the United Kingdom, an autopsy was performed.

The coroner ruled that Lock died as a result of a single gunshot wound to the head after suffering a gunshot wound to the leg.
