(Scroll down for video) A man in New York, was arrested after running over his girlfriend and driving away.

The couple had been eating at a restaurant in Long Island, and they had too much alcohol before they got into an argument.

57-year-old Robert Savinetti of Melville, decided to get away from his girlfriend, 44-year-old Lisa Miceli.

She followed him outside. As he began driving away, Miceli ran alongside the vehicle and she attempted to get into the car.

The woman soon lost her footing and she fell under his Toyota RAV4, officials said.

Savinetti drove away, leaving his dying girlfriend on the ground. A passerby spotted her and called for help at about 10:50 p.m.

Savinetti only returned to the scene after the restaurant owner informed him that his girlfriend was seriously hurt.

Savinetti, who plays in a cover band called Copycat, was found to be drunk.

Miceli, who is a mother of two children and worked as a bookings and promotions officer for the band, died at a hospital.

The couple had been dating for more than five years. Savinetti now faces charges of DWI, manslaughter and leaving the scene of a fatality.
