People were shocked to see a young girl hanging herself from a tree and broadcasting her death live on Facebook, according to police in Georgia.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said that they received a call on Wednesday around 6:00 p.m., about the girl who might have hurt herself.

When officers arrived at the scene, the girl was already dead from a self inflicted wound.

According to the police investigation, 12-year-old Katelyn Nichole Davis recorded herself on Facebook Live, preparing her suicide.

She is seen walking to a wooded area and preparing a noose on a tree. She then climbed up and apologized to her family and friends.

Davis then committed suicide to the shock of the people who were watching her on Facebook. By the time police arrived, it was too late.

The girl was rushed to the Polk Medical Center Emergency Room, where she was pronounced dead. Davis was a student at the Cedartown Middle School.

Katelyn left behind her mother, Tammy M. Parish Rogers, her father, Matthew Reed Davis, her sister, Abbigail Rogers, and her brother, A.J. Rogers.
