‘Dead’ woman wakes up before funeral after family lied about her death so they don’t have to care for her

(Scroll down for video) A cancer patient was almost buried alive after her family dumped her at a funeral home, claiming that she was dead.

Police in Bolivia, arrested the dying woman’s family members for dumping her at the funeral home even though she was still alive.

69-year-old Carmen Chacon spent the night at the morgue in La Paz.

As workers in the funeral home prepared to embalm the woman’s body for her funeral, she suddenly began to cry.

Staff members contacted the woman’s family, but they allegedly refused to take her home.

Police were called and they arrested the woman’s daughter, her son-in-law and her cousin for the strange incident.

According to police, Chacon was in a hospital, where she was being treated for a brain tumor. Doctors told that family there was nothing more that could be done for her.

Instead of taking her home, the family took Chacon to the funeral home to be buried so that they don’t have to care for her.

Chacon was admitted to another hospital, where she is being treated in the intensive care unit, officials said.

La Paz Departmental Prosecutor, Edwin Blanco, said that in addition to family members, the funeral home owner also faces charges for accepting the woman without medical confirmation of her death.
