A man who was high on meth, jumped into a river and fought with rescuers as they were trying to pull him out of the water, according to the police in Canada.

The Medicine Hat Police Service said that they have arrested 25-year-old Curtis McKenzie, after being accused of assaulting a police officer.

In court, McKenzie pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer and mischief. Judge Brent Klause of the Saskatoon provincial court sentenced McKenzie to serve 5 months in prison.

According to the police investigation, McKenzie was jailed after being convicted of aggravated assault. During his time in jail, McKenzie was placed in solitary confinement.

McKenzie became depressed and cut off his own nose. After being released from prison, McKenzie was placed on probation.

A passerby called the police to report a possible suicide. Police officers who arrived at the scene, found McKenzie swimming in the river while yelling f**k the police.

Firefighters tried to pull McKenzie out of the water, but he fought them off. Eventually, police officer reached McKenzie, and pulled him from the water.
