(Scroll down for video) A family has filed a lawsuit against a school district in Florida, for allowing a teacher to work with children despite knowing that he was molesting kids.

In the lawsuit, the school was informed that 41-year-old Jason Meyers was sexually abusing female students throughout his 14-year career as an English and creative writing teacher at two different schools in Miami.

One family allegedly wrote a letter to the school district, informing them of the sexual abuse 9 years ago, but Meyers was not arrested. Instead, he was transferred to another school.

Meyers, a married father of four children, is accused of encouraging the victims to write sexually explicit material in his class.

Last year, a 16-year-old student told police about the sexual abuse, and Meyers was arrested for sexual battery. He is set to go on trial in a few weeks.

So far, the school district has not publicly responded to the lawsuit.
