Burglars freaked out after realizing that they stole frozen placentas that were stored in a freezer, according to police in New Zealand.

Hawke’s Bay Police asked for the assistance of the public to locate a number of items taken from a home in the Tamatea area.

The burglary took place sometime between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., on Monday. A large quantity of food was taken from the freezer, as well as two placentas that were stored inside.

The placentas were being kept in the freezer while a decision was being made as to where they would be buried.

The placentas were stored in white containers, similar to those of 2 liter ice creams, and the names of who they belonged to were written on the front.

The families who dearly love these precious items, wanted them back, and police asked that anyone who may be able to assist in finding them please get in touch immediately.

Police later announced that thanks to assistance from the public, the placentas stolen from the home in Tamatea, have now been found and returned to the families.

The families are incredibly grateful to have them back.

Kyla Mackey wrote: “The burglars must’ve gotten a fright when they opened the container. Glad they’ve been found and so quickly too.”
