Police were called to a Chuck E. Cheese’s in Massachusetts, on reports of an assault against a child.

According to Captain Brett Poirier, the incident occurred at the South Attleboro restaurant at about 4:15 p.m., on Saturday.

Officers learned that 52-year-old Daniel E. Lafayette of North Smithfield, kicked the 6-year-old girl over tokens.

Witnesses told police that Lafayette kicked the girl and knocked her out of the way after dropping coins on the floor.

The girl’s mother tried to explain to Lafayette that her daughter was just trying to help him by picking up the coins so that he would not have to bend down.

Lafayette however, claimed that the girl was trying to steal his tokens after he accidentally dropped them.

The girl’s father went to tell a manager what happened. The manager then tipped off Lafayette that police were called, and he quickly left the store.

Lafayette was arrested at his home. He was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, namely his foot.

In court, Lafayette pleaded not guilty to assault and battery charges. He was released after posting $500 cash bail.
