A police officer in the United Kingdom, was jailed after pleading guilty to recording couples in compromising positions from a police helicopter.

Former police officer Adrian Pogmore, 50, cried as he was sentenced to one year in prison after he pleaded guilty to misconduct.

South Yorkshire police officers and two pilots were accused of using the aircraft’s powerful video camera to record members of the public who were having sex and sunbathing naked.

Judge Peter Kelson QC heard how the officer, who served for 22 years before he was fired for recording one couple having sex on their property.

According to prosecutors, Pogmore knew the couple he was recorded while engaging in sex acts.

Prosecutors said that the couple shared Pogmore’s interest in swinging, and the couple were friends of his. They were aware of the helicopter, but the others were unaware of the intrusion.

In the video, the woman was seen waving to the police helicopter while having sex.

Prosecutor Richard Wright said that the recording was a “gross violation” of the victims’ privacy along with a “gross waste of valuable resource.”

He further said the public had the right to expect police helicopters to be used to keep communities safe, and not to record their sexual acts from the air.

Matthew Lucas, 42, Lee Walls, 47, Matthew Loosemore, 45, and Malcolm Reeves, 64, were all acquitted by the jury because they did not know that their colleague recorded the eight minute video.
