(Scroll down for video) A newborn baby was found covered in ants after being dumped by her mother, who did not want to ruin the relationship with her boyfriend, according to police in Texas.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said that they have arrested 21-year-old Sidney Woytasczyk, after being accused of dumping her daughter and leaving her to die in the yard of her home.

Woytasczyk has been charged with one count each of abandoning a child and causing serious bodily injury. She was booked into jail, and her bail has been set at $20,000.

If convicted, Woytasczyk faces up to 20 years in prison.

According to the police investigation, Woytasczyk was in a relationship with DeAndre Skillern. When Woytasczyk became pregnant, she kept it hidden from her boyfriend and family.

Police believe that Woytasczyk did not want a baby to come between her and her boyfriend.

When Skillern noticed that his girlfriend was gaining weight, he asked her whether she was pregnant, but she denied it.

On Thursday, at around 12:00 a.m., Woytasczyk gave birth in the kitchen of her home. She ripped out the umbilical cord, and dumped the baby girl in the yard.

The baby was bleeding out and became covered in ants. At around 5:00 a.m., a neighbor found the baby and called police.

The bay was rushed to the hospital, where she was treated for bug bites and a bacterial infection.
