(Scroll down for video) Police launched an investigation after a young grandmother jumped from a building following an argument with her 21-year-old boyfriend, according to police in New York.

The New York Police Department said that 33-year-old Yanina Boitel, was found with severe injuries in front of the Johnson Houses located on 3rd Avenue and East 114th Street.

She was rushed to the Metropolitan Hospital Center, where she was declared dead at around 9:30 p.m., on Saturday.

Boitel left behind three children, aged 16, 12, and 10.

Boitel recently celebrated the birth of her first grandchild.

Police said that people heard Boitel and her 21-year-old boyfriend fighting earlier in the evening.

The boyfriend told police that he left the house before Boitel jumped from the 12th floor of the building.

Boitel’s family members claim that the young grandmother would have never killed herself, and her boyfriend threw her off the building.

They also claimed that Boitel was the victim of severe abuse at the hands of her much younger boyfriend.

Police said that the boyfriend has no criminal history.

The boyfriend was questioned by police for hours, and released without being charged.
