A track coach who admitted to having sex with his student, was found dead in an apparent suicide.

28-year-old Timothy Even of Maine, was found dead inside his car.

Police said that Even’s death does not appear to be suspicious and is believed to be a suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning.

Even was a Westbrook High School track coach when he began having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student.

A friend of the victim saw explicit text messages on the girl’s cell phone, between her and the coach. The friend notified the girl’s mother and police were called.

When Even was arrested and confronted with the evidence, he admitted to having sex with the girl three times.

Even was initially charged by the Cumberland County jury with five counts of serious sexual assault. However, he was convicted of misdemeanor charges of unlawful sexual contact and assault, according to state records.

He committed suicide before learning his sentence.

The age of consent in Maine is 16-years-old. However, teachers and school employees are prohibited by law from having sex with any student over whom they have authority regardless of age.
