A man who wanted to collect his father’s welfare payments after death, chopped up the body in kept the parts in his bathtub, according to police in Japan.
Tokyo police said that they have arrested 45-year-old Hideyoshi Takeda, after he allegedly confessed to leaving his father’s body parts in the bathtub of his home for three years.
Takeda is facing charges of abandoning a corpse and fraud.
Investigators are trying to determine how the suspect’s father died.
If the matter of death was homicide, the suspect will be charged with murder.
According to the police investigation, Takeda and his father lived together in an apartment.
Takeda recently told a government employee at a welfare office that his 80-year-old father had died three years ago.
After his death, Takeda chopped up the body and placed the parts in 8 plastic bags.
He then placed those bags in the bathtub.
The government employee called police.
Police recovered the 8 bags from the suspect’s home.
During questioning, Takeda told police that his father wanted to remain in the home with his son after death, and he just granted the deceased’s wishes.
For three years, Takeda collected his father’s welfare payments and did not report the death.
