(Scroll down for video) A school principal in South Carolina, is being criticized for fat shaming girl who wear leggings instead of pants.

Stratford High School principal Heather Taylor told girls that if they are larger than a size 2, they will look fat even though they are not overweight.

Taylor also pointed out that people could see the private parts of those girls who wear leggings instead of pants.

Many students were deeply offended by the principal's remarks, saying that they feel they were fat shamed.

Taylor has apologized for her comments, saying that she did not mean to offend anyone.

A student recorded Taylor's comments and publicized it on the Internet.

“Leggings are meant to wear underneath a long shirt that covers your heiny, a long sweater of some type, or a dress. It is not meant to be your actual pants, and if you have a shirt that comes to here, then you are showing everything. Yes, everything,” Taylor said.

“The sad thing is with that, ladies, if someone has not told you this before, I'm going to tell you this now, unless you are a size zero or a two, and you wear something like that, even though you are not fat, you look fat,” Taylor added.

Some people defended the principal's comments and said that the girls are blowing this out of proportion.
