Man sprays fire extinguisher on hospital employees after being denied treatment for substance abuse

A man who became angry when hospital workers denied him treatment for substance abuse, used a fire extinguisher to assault them, according to police in Japan.

Tokyo police said that they have arrested 41-year-old Atsushi Hirata, after being accused of spraying the contents of the fire extinguisher on the hospital employees.

Hirata is facing charges of assault and interfering with business operations.

According to the police investigation, Hirata was addicted to alcohol and sleeping pills when he checked himself into the hospital that specialized in the treatment of substance abuse.

Hirata received treatment at the hospital until worker learned that he was taking illegal drugs.

Hirata was then denied further treatment.

Hirata became angry and grabbed a fire extinguisher from the wall.

He then sprayed the contents of the fire extinguisher on the hospital employees.
