(Scroll down for video) A man was handed rough justice in prison by inmates after he pleaded guilty to raping and killing a girl.

74-year-old Gregory Keith Davies of Melbourne, Australia, was in jail while awaiting sentencing for the rape and murder of the 6-year-old girl when inmates poured boiling water over his body and his groin area.

Davis was rushed to the hospital, where he was treated for burns to 15 percent of his body.

Davies’ attorney David Gibson asked the judge to push off the sentencing date as his client was in extreme pain. He said that Davies underwent skin grafts on some parts of his body and he was unable to walk for some time.

Now, he walks with difficulty and pain. Prisoners apparently carried out the attack after learning that Davies had been on the run from justice for 33 years.

In 1984, Davies snatched 6-year-old Kylie Maybury from the street near her home. He drugged, raped and killed her before dumping her body.

The body was found two days after the girl disappeared. Police questioned Davies back then, but he denied the allegations.

Recently, police reopened the case and DNA sample from the rape victim was found to be a match with Davies. Kylie’s mother said that she was shocked when Davies admitted to the killing after denying it for so many years.

However, she is very pleased that justice is finally being served for her daughter.

No charges have been filed against the inmates for burning Davies.
