A drunk man who wanted to raise money for alcohol, sold his car and used the cash to buy vodka, according to police in New Zealand.

Rotorua police said that the man walked into the police station and reported that his car was stolen as he did not remember selling the car the previous day.

The incident began on Friday, when the drunk man ran out of alcohol.

The man quickly realized that he already spent all his money on alcohol so he sold his car for $800.

The drunk man quickly bought more alcohol and drank the entire night.

When he got up in the morning, the man looked for his car, but he could not find it.

He walked into the nearest police station and reported it stolen as he did not remember selling the previous day to fuel his alcohol addiction.

Luckily, the buyer of the car suspected that the drunk man sold him a stolen vehicle.

The buyer checked on Carjam, which showed the car was reported stolen.

The buyer bought the car to the nearest police station and handed over the vehicle to the police.
