Female prison inmates in the United Kingdom, were angry when they learned that a transgender woman was being placed in their prison.

Now, according to prison officials, the women are furious because the convicted sex offender who became a woman while in prison, made sexual advances towards inmates.

50-year-old Martin Ponting was sentenced to life in prison in 1995, after he was found guilty of raping two girls.

While he was in a men’s prison, the a father-of-three lived as a transsexual. He later decided to become a woman.

He underwent gender reassignment surgery. Ponting became Jessica Winfield in prison, and was transferred to HMP Bronzefield in Surrey, which is Europe’s largest female prison.

However, while in prison, the convicted sex offender made unwanted sexual advances towards women. The victims filed complaints and Winfield was placed in isolation.

One furious inmate said: “he may have changed physically but his brain is still the same. You can change somebody’s genitals, but it’s not going to take away the urge and impulse inside them.”

Back in 2009, six prisoners, including a murderer and kidnapper, launched a legal challenge to have gender reassignment surgery paid for by NHS (National Health Trust).

A High Court ruled in their favor, and they were transferred to different jails to match their new genders.
