The Louisville Metro Police Department said that the 9-year-old boy wanted to cook some food in the backyard of his home when a fire began burning out of control.

According to the police investigation, the incident unfolded on Monday, at around 8:00 p.m., in the 5200 block of Alba Way.

The 9-year-old boy and his friend put together some wood in the backyard and started a small fire using gasoline.

The two kids were pretending to be cooks and wanted to prepare food.

At some point, the fire grew larger, and the kids panicked.

The can of gasoline got kicked and the flammable liquid covered the 9-year-old boy.

The boy was then set on fire.

The boy was rushed to the University Hospital, and is said to be in stable condition.

Doctors said that the boy suffered burns to his shoulder, back, neck and chest.

Police said that no charges will be filed as this appears to be an accident.
