(Scroll down for video) A man caused thousands of dollars in damages to a 7-Eleven store location after an employee refused to sell him beer in middle of the night, according to police in California.

The Santa Ana Police Department said that on Friday, at around 2:30 a.m., the suspect entered the 7-Eleven store several times and asked to use the phone.

Specifically, he wanted the employee to lend him a personal cell phone to make a call.

The suspect also wanted to illegally purchase beer after 2:00 a.m.

State law prohibits the sale of alcoholic beverages between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.

When asked to leave the store located at 1020 S. Bristol Street, the suspect became destructive.

The suspect assaulted the clerk, pushed many of the items off the counter, and broke many of the front windows to the store.

The suspect’s actions caused approximately $2,000 of damage to the store.

The angry man was also accused of beating the store clerk.
