(Scroll down for video) A 16-year-old boy is accused of shooting a father at point blank range as he was trying to protect his daughter and dog during a carjacking.

38-year-old Gerard Grandzol, a father of two kids from Pennsylvania, had just returned from a park with his 2-year-old daughter and his dog at around 8:00 p.m.

While he was parking his SUV on the street outside his Philadelphia home, he was approached by the two brothers.

Police suspect that Grandzol refused to hand over his car keys before he was able to remove his daughter and dog from the vehicle.

Police said that the victim told the suspects that his daughter was strapped inside the car seat in the backseat. That is when the 16-year-old boy shot him twice, once in the head and once in the face.

Police reviewed surveillance videos and were able to track down the suspect, who had fled the scene on foot.

Police did not release the name of the shooter due to his age, but his brother was identified as 21-year-old Maurice Roberts.

Shawn Corrigan set up a Gerard Grandzol Memorial fund on GoFundMe to support his widow, Kristen, and her two daughters. The younger one is just 6 weeks old. In just two days, he raised $92,900 of the $100,000 goal.
