Man sets his pregnant girlfriend on fire because he did not want to be a father

(Scroll down for video) A woman is fighting for her life after being burned by her boyfriend who wanted to kill her unborn baby.

30-year-old Andrea Grinage of Capitol Heights, Maryland, was looking forward to welcoming her baby daughter into the world in about seven weeks.

However, according to Arthur Grinage Sr. of Washington, his daughter’s boyfriend, 34-year-old Laquinn Phillips, had a change of heart about the baby.

Phillips decided that he does not want to be a father to a newborn so he set his girlfriend and their home on fire during an argument at 11:45 a.m.

Grinage was rushed to a hospital with serious burns and she is in critical but stable condition.

Doctors were able to save her baby who was named Journey Aleah. They baby is doing good despite being born 7 weeks early.

Grinage set up a GoFundMe page to collect money for his daughter and he wrote: “My daughter was critically burned over 90 percent of her body as a result of domestic violence.

“She’s a mother of 2 boys, ages 15 and 8, and a newborn that was born 7 weeks premature. Everything was lost in the fire and she must begin anew with your help.

“She has a long road to recovery and unknown medical costs. PLEASE stop domestic violence!!”

He has raised $22,400 of his $50,000 goal in just three days.

Phillips faces a number of charges that include attempted first and second-degree murder, arson, and assault.
