(Scroll down for video) A longtime and decorated military colonel was jailed for sexually assaulting the daughter of another service man.

56-year-old Daniel Wilson of Mason, Washington, was in the Marine Corps for more than 30 years, and completed 11 deployments during his career.

His services ended in disgrace when he was dismissed for sexually abusing the 6-year-old daughter of another service man who trusted him around the child.

Wilson was accused of touching the child’s genitals when her parents were not in the room.

The victim’s father told the court that he was shocked when he learned about the sexual assault because he looked up to Wilson as a father figure and mentor.

Susan Wilson defended her husband. She said that he had suffered PTSD after driving over an explosive device in Fallujah, Iraq, in 2003.

Wilson was also accused of making lewd comments about a colleague’s wife while he was drunk, and shared lewd photos of a service man’s wife with colleagues.

The decorated colonel was found guilty of six counts of conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman, and being absent without leave.

Wilson was sentenced to five and a half years in prison.
