(Scroll down for video) Pope Francis, who is currently visiting Colombia, was seen suffering from a black eye, following an accident in the Popemobile.

The 80-year-old leader of Roman Catholic Church, was traveling in the Popemobile in Cartagena, on Sunday, when he slipped.

The Pope hit his face on an iron bar, causing severe bruising to his left eye.

The Pope was treated at the scene with ice and a band aid.

Pope Francis later continued with greeting thousands of followers.

Some blood stains were visible on his white clothing.

A spokesperson for the Pope said that Francis was doing fine despite his injuries to his left cheekbone and eyelid.

The injury was the result of the Popemobile coming to a sudden stop, causing the Pope to lose his balance.

The driver of the Popemobile said that he was forced to make the sudden stop to avoid hitting the crowd.
