Young man beaten for speaking English outside 5 star hotel in India

A young man was shocked when a group of men scolded him for speaking English, according to police in India.

New Delhi police said that they have arrested three men after they assaulted 22-year-old Varun Gulati of Noida, only because he chose to speak English.

The three suspects were charged with assault.

Police are still looking for two additional suspects who took part in the attack.

Two suspects were identified as Rubal Singh and Mandeep Singh.

According to the police investigation, Gulati attended the Ryan International School of Noida. Where he learned to speak English fluently.

Gulati became a real estate agent shortly after getting his college degree.

On Saturday, Gulati drove his friends Aman and Daksh to the Royal Plaza hotel on Ashoka Road.

Gulati escorted his friend to the hotel and returned to his vehicle by himself.

Before he was able to get into his car, Rubal, Mandeep and three other men began scolding Gulati for speaking English in India.

One of the men pulled out an iron rod and Gulati was beaten.

The five suspects then fled from the scene.

Gulati suffered injuries to his face and the rest of his body.

He was taken to the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital, where he is being treated.
