A mother of two children lost her life after taking a playful selfie with her friends riding behind her.

41-year-old Carmen Greenway of the United Kingdom, took the selfie while she was riding her bike at night.

Moments after taking the smiling selfie, she lost control of her bike. The graphic designer, did not wear a helmet while riding her bike, and as a result, she broke her skull.

Greenway, who was an avid bike rider, fell just 300 meters away from her home in London, as she returned from her mother’s birthday party, during which she had two cocktails and four glasses of wine at a pub, an inquest heard.

Coroner Sherry Bennett said that Greenway was a strong, fit and healthy woman with a tolerance of pain.

She was rushed to St. Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, where she died six days later, after going into cardiac arrest.

Greenway leaves behind her husband Rufus of nearly 13 years, and their two children, who are 13 and 4-years-old.

Rufus said that his wife cycled on that road often and she took selfies there many times before.

“It’s unfortunately an unfortunate accident. If she was wearing a helmet she would still be alive,” Rufus said.
