Firefighter throws water bottle at elderly woman in road rage incident

A man in Florida, was arrested for hurting an elderly woman who was in a car.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said that the Lake Wales firefighter was arrested after he threw a water bottle at a passing car during a road rage incident.

According to an arrest affidavit, Stephanie Dudley was driving down Highway 98 South with her mother, Linda Caraway, in the passenger seat.

As they approached the intersection of Palmetto Avenue, Dudley decided to change lanes and she passed another vehicle.

Dudley said that the driver of the other vehicle threw a water bottle at them. The bottle had hit her mother.

Dudley called the cops and followed the vehicle until a deputy arrived.

The deputy activated his sirens and pulled over 24-year-old Dy’Sean Broome. He allegedly admitted to the officer that he threw the water bottle.

He said that Dudley had cut him off in traffic and he threw the water bottle out of anger.

Deputies said Caraway had a visible red mark on her arm with minor swelling, but she refused medical treatment.

Broome was taken into custody and charged with battery on a person 65 years or older.

According to the sheriff’s office, Broome is employed as a firefighter with the City of Lake Wales Fire Department.

Broome has previous arrests for domestic battery and driving under the influence.
