(Scroll down for video) A woman committed a senseless double murder, ending the lives of a young fiancee and an 8-month-old fetus, according to police in Louisiana.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., on Tuesday, deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Courtableau Hwy., in reference to a call regarding an unresponsive woman.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered Ashley Nicole Meche, 24, who was eight months pregnant, deceased as a result of a homicide.

The cause of death has been determined to be a stabbing, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Police initially detained Mark Trimble, 29, who was the victim’s fiance.

Police later determined that he was not involved in the double murder.

Police arrested Trimble’s sister Toni Trimble, 32, after being accused of stabbing Meche in the abdomen.

Toni has been charged with one count of second-degree murder and one count of second-degree feticide.

She was booked into jail, and is being held without bail.

Police do not know why Toni killed her brother’s fiancee.
