Mother drowns 2 sons by holding their heads underwater in bathtub so they could go to heaven

(Scroll down for video) A mother told police that she killed her two young sons so they could go to heaven quickly, according to police in Pennsylvania.

The Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office said that 44-year-old Laurel Michelle Schlemmer, was found guilty of 2 counts of third-degree murder in connection with the drowning deaths of her 2 sons.

She was also found guilty of two counts of child endangerment and tampering with evidence.

Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey A. Manning sentenced the mother to up to 80 years in prison.

According to the police investigation, Schlemmer dragged her two sons, 6-year-old Daniel and 3-year-old Luke, into the bathtub and filled it up with water.

She then held their heads underwater until they drowned.

During questioning, Schlemmer told police that she killed her sons so they could go to heaven.

She also claimed that she had to get rid of her younger sons in order to be a better mother to her older son, who was 7 years old at the time of the incident.

During sentencing, Schlemmer told the court that she wished she could have her kids back.

The court heard that Schlemmer tried to kill her kids several times.

She once left her kids in a hot car and they suffered injuries.

She pleaded guilty, but was allowed to have custody of her children.

In another incident, Schlemmer ran over her two kids with a car.

They suffered serious injuries.

Schlemmer told police that she accidentally ran over her kids, and they believed her.

Schlemmer confessed to her husband Mark, that she intentionally ran over her kids, but he allowed her to be with the children.
