A family is devastated over the brutal death of their teenage son.

17-year-old Joseph “Joey” Steinfeld of Missouri, was reported missing by his parents one week before his charred remains were found.

Police found his burned remains in a bag inside a chicken coop on the property of a trailer home belonging to one suspect who was identified as 24-year-old Briana Calderas.

According to police, 18-years-old Andrew Vrba admitted to first trying to poison Steinfeld and then stabbing him in the mobile home.

Vrba’s 18-year-old girlfriend Isis Schauer, and Calderas, admitted to buying material and burning the body.

Steinfeld knew the suspects for a short time before he was killed, according to his parents.

On his Facebook page, Steinfeld listed his name as Aly. His family said that he would sometimes identify as female, but only on social media.

Police said that they are not investigating this case as a hate crime, but they did not yet reveal a motive for the murder.
