Man attempts to smuggle 3 pounds of gold by stuffing bars in his rectum

Customs officials in Sri Lanka, were surprised to find gold bars and jewelry inside a man’s rectum.

The Sri Lanka Airport Police said that they have arrested the 45-year-old man, who was not identified, after trying to depart from the country with a large amount of unreported gold.

The incident unfolded on Sunday, at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake.

The man was boarding a plane to India.

The suspect drew the attention to himself after having difficulty walking and appearing to be in pain.

He was singled out for a secondary inspection, during which time officers found gold inside his rectum.

The man stuffed 4 gold bars and 8 pieces of jewelry inside his anal cavity.

Police estimate the gold to be worth around $75,000.

Police seized the gold and jewelry.

The man was released from custody after paying a fine of $660.
