A modeling agency was forced to cancel a male beauty contest after failing to find handsome candidates.

The modeling agency in Mexico, announced that they are looking to recruit men for the "Mr. Model Tabasco 2017” male beauty contest.

In order to qualify, candidates had to be at least 5 foot 8 inches tall, be between 17 and 27 years old, handsome, educated, speak English, have a valid passport, and not be a stripper.

However, this turned out to be much harder than organizers expected. The did manage to recruit 7 men, and they appeared in photo shoots and TV ads.

When they were unable to attract locals, the organizers looked for international contestants, but this too failed and the show was canceled.

On the Mr. Model Tabasco Facebook page, the organizers wrote: "The National Organization of Mr. Model Mexico regrets to inform you that the Mr. Model Tabasco 2017 event has been canceled until further notice, due to the candidates not meeting the physical requirements established by the organization.

"Mr. Model Tabasco will continue to work hard to find the perfect example of masculine beauty in the state."

People posted comments, expressing their anger with the organizers.

Some accused the organizers of humiliating the 7 contestants who had been accepted by making them feel like they weren’t attractive enough.

Many also felt that the organizers were embarrassing the entire state of Tabasco.

There were people who believe that the height requirement was very restrictive, considering that many Mexicans are not very tall.
