(Scroll down for video) A groom is being hailed a hero for saving a young boy who was drowning in a river.

Clayton “Clay” and Brittany Cook of Canada, had finished exchanging vows and were ready to take photos as a newly married couple.

The couple’s wedding photographer, Darren Hatt, suggested that they go to a nearby park that had a bridge overlooking a river.

As they were taking photos against the breathtaking view, Brittany said that she suddenly saw her new husband jumping into the river and pulling a young child out of the water.

Hatt quickly took photos, which showed the groom in the water. The soaking wet child was seen standing nearby with two other children.

According to Clayton, the boy’s face was already underwater when he saved him. The two friends admitted to pushing the boy into the water, Clayton said.

The boy’s older sister then came over and took the child to safety.

Brittany said that her husband’s heroic action did not surprise her because this is the kind of person he is.
