(Scroll down for video) Investigators are trying to figure out how a young child got hold of a gun and shot two young children at a day care facility, according to police in Michigan.

According to the Dearborn police, the toddler found the gun on Wednesday, at around 10:30 a.m., and shot the two 3-year-old children at the care facility located in a private residence.

They were taken to the Children’s Hospital, where they are being treated for severe injuries.

There were other children in the house at the time of the shooting.

All the children were removed from the home and taken to the police station.

The parents later picked them up from the police station.

The day care was run by Tim and Samantha Eubanks at their home in the 3600 block of Harding Street.

So far, no charges have been filed.
