Woman grabs 5-year-old girl from her mother’s hands and throws her in front of oncoming train

(Scroll down for video) A deranged woman was taken off the street after throwing a young girl in front of an oncoming train, according to police in New Jersey.

Burlington police said that they have arrested 20-year-old Autumn Matacchiera, after being accused grabbing the 5-year-old girl from her mother’s hands and throwing her into an oncoming train.

Matacchiera has been charged with one count of attempted murder. The suspect was taken to the Lourdes Medical Center for a psychiatric evaluation.

According to the police investigation, the incident unfolded on Friday around 8:30 p.m. A New Jersey Transit bus driver called police to report suspicious activity near High and Broad streets.

When police officers approached Matacchiera, she grabbed the young girl from her mother’s hands and threw her into the path of an oncoming train.

The mother’s boyfriend jumped onto the train tracks and saved the girl. Matacchiera does not know the girl or her mother.

The girl was taken to the Memorial Hospital of Burlington, where she was treated for bruising and a cut on her face.
