(Scroll down for video) Parents expressed their outrage and concern after a music teacher was arrested for tampering with flutes that were handed out to students in California.

Los Angeles police have not yet named the suspect, who was arrested for sexual misconduct as the investigation is ongoing.

However, they are asking parents to take the flutes away from their children.

In a statement, police advised parents to place the flute in a paper bag, not a plastic one, as paper is less likely to damage evidence, and call the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Police, the California Department of Justice, and the U.S. Postal Service, have launched a statewide investigation into the matter.

Authorities want to test the flutes as they believe that the music teacher contaminated them with semen.

Fountain Valley School District Superintendent Mark Johnson wrote a letter to parents, saying that the flutes may have been contaminated with bodily fluids and he urged parents to turn the instruments over to police.

Police said that the flutes were distributed by a music teacher who ran an organization called “Flutes Across the World.”

The flutes, which are colorfully decorated and painted, were distributed to students in at least 13 school districts across Southern California.

The program targeted fifth graders who are between the ages of 10 and 11.
