The Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office said that they have arrested 20-year-old Liam Chou Buckley, after being accused of traveling at more than double the allowed speed on Interstate 20.

Buckley has been charged with speeding 25+ miles per hour above the speed limit.

He was booked into the Kershaw County Detention Center, and was released without bail.

If convicted, he faces a fine of up to $440 and 6 points on his driver’s license.

According to the police complaint, Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews was patrolling the Interstate 20, on Friday, at around 11:30 p.m., when he noticed a Corvette traveling at a high rate of speed.

Matthews used a radar and clocked the Corvette going at a speed of 141 miles per hour, which is more than twice the legal limit of 70 miles per hour.

Matthews followed the Corvette, and managed to pull it over.

When the deputy asked the driver, who was later identified as Buckley, why he was speeding, the young man said that he was in a hurry to visit his girlfriend in Myrtle Beach.
