(Scroll down for video) A man of New York, is facing life in prison for recording himself raping a girl after befriending her on Facebook.

31-year-old Marshall Gaudet of Malta, pleaded guilty before County Judge James, to predatory sexual assault against a child, first-degree rape and two counts of possessing a sexual performance of a child.

Saratoga County Sheriff Michael Zurlo said that Gaudet used a fake identity, Jimmy Johnson, and a bogus Facebook page to lure girls into accepting him as his friend.

Police found that Zurlo was in contact with at least 20 underage girls via social media.

Zurlo asked a 16-year-old girl to send him nude photos of herself and she complied. When he received the photos, Zurlo threatened to post the images online unless she met him in person.

When they met, Zurlo took the girl to his home, where he forcefully raped her and he recorded the acts. After the girl reported the incident to police, they searched his home, where they found sexually explicit videos and images of a 15-year-old girl on Gaudet’s electronic devices.

Zurlo faces up to life in prison when he is sentenced.
