A man lost control of his vehicle and overturned it while driving on a highway after being bitten by ants that found refuge in his SUV during recent flooding, according to police in Florida.

85-year-old Louis Marino of Tampa, said that he was traveling on Interstate 10, on Wednesday, at around 9:45 a.m., when he felt something biting his leg.

While being distracted by pain, Marino veered off the highway.

In an attempt to get back on the road, Marino made a sharp left turn, causing the SUV to roll over.

Marino was taken to the Madison County Memorial Hospital.

Luckily, he only suffered minor injuries.

Marino told investigators that he left the SUV in a storage unit during the recent hurricane and flooding.

A group of fire ants sought refuge in the vehicle, and snacked on food in the back seat.

When Marino got into his Ford Explorer, he did not notice that the entire floor was covered in ants.
