(Scroll down for video) It is a mother’s worst nightmare to get a phone call, informing her that a child was injured or worse during a sleepover.

For one mother of Florida, this became a reality when she was told that her daughter was shot in the head during the night at a friend’s house.

Update: 11-year-old Tyron A. Calhoun was arrested and charged with manslaughter for shooting the girl.

12-year-old Ramya Eunice was invited to a friend’s birthday party with a sleepover to follow in Jacksonville on Sunday.

She and seven other children were at a home on Williow Branch Avenue, when an 11-year-old boy shot her while she was lying on a couch.

The bullet hit her in the ear and on the left side of the head.

Police were called to the home at around 1:45 a.m., by a family member who woke up from the gunshot.

Eunice was taken to UF Health Jacksonville in critical condition. Eunice is believed to be brain dead.

The 11-year-old shooter, who is reportedly the nephew of the homeowner, was placed under a mental health evaluation. He claimed the shooting was an accident.

Police found the loaded gun in an abandoned house near the family’s home. The boy claimed that he found the gun in that home before shooting Eunice.
