A police officer suffered injuries after forcing open a door that was booby trapped with knives, according to police in Canada.

St. Thomas police said that the incident unfolded at around 8:00 a.m. when the landlord of the home called with help of a trespassing former tenant.

The landlord told police that he recently evicted a tenant from his home, but suspected that he came back to the apartment.

When the police officer tried to open the door, he felt that something was holding it back.

The police officer forced the door open, causing a booby trap to be activated.

Three knives came flying towards the police officer and the landlord.

Two of the knives hit the police officer while the third one fell on the floor.

The police officer suffered minor injuries after being hit in the hand and chest.

He was treated at the scene.

Additional officers arrived, and they searched the home.

No other booby traps were found.

So far, no charges have been filed.
