An elderly woman who was reading the Bible at a bus stop, was shocked when a man stole the book from her and ran away, according to police in Florida.

Jacksonville police said that they have arrested 58-year-old Richard Holden after assaulting the woman who demanded her Bible back.

Holden has been charged with battery on a person 65 years or older and robbery.

According to the police investigation, the incident unfolded on Monday.

The elderly woman, who was not identified, sat down at a bus stop and began reading from her Bible.

Holden sat down next to her and began asking the woman questions about her Bible.

When the woman accidentally dropped the Bible, Holden picked it up from the ground and refused to return it.

The woman shouted at Holden, but he just shoved her and placed the Bible in his pocket.

Holden then slapped the woman and fled the scene.

The woman called the police and Holden was arrested.

During questioning, Holden told police that he made the Bible, and carried it around with him.
