(Scroll down for video) A fisherman is lucky to be alive after a fish jumped into his mouth and lodged itself in his throat, according to doctors in the United Kingdom.

28-year-old Sam Quilliam of Bournemouth, was out fishing with his friends on Thursday, at around 11:00 p.m.

The fisherman caught a Dover sole and then held it up above his head to show off his catch.

Suddenly, the fish wriggles itself out of his hands and jumped into his mouth.

The fish then lodged itself in the fisherman’s throat.

The man’s windpipe became completely obstructed, and he was unable to breathe.

He motioned to his friends for help, and a witness at the scene began performing CPR.

By the time paramedics arrived, the man was in cardiac arrest.

Paramedics decided that they had no choice but to pull out the fish as the patient won’t make it to the hospital alive.

Forceps were used to pull the fish out from the man’s throat in one piece.

The fisherman was taken to the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, where he completely recovered.

He suffered no lasting effect from the ordeal.
