(Scroll down for video) A mother was furious when police denied her request to see her son, who was shot.

When Cynthia Quinn of Michigan, heard that her son, 29-year-old Sanchez Quinn, had been shot, she rushed to the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, to see if he was alive.

However, officers guarded her son and would not allow her to enter the room without an explanation of what happened and who shot him.

Cynthia eventually learned that her son was not a victim of a crime, but rather a suspect who got shot when he tried to rob the wrong person.

Police released surveillance video, which shows Sanchez trying to rob two men, who are cousins, at gunpoint outside the Super X Market.

The suspect was seen pulling a gun and pointing it at the two victims. One victim was able to push the gun away and the two victims tried to escape.

At that point, Sanchez fired some shots in their direction, hitting one man.

The second victim, who was a Concealed Pistol License holder and was armed, pulled his own gun and shot Sanchez.

Police said that the video evidence showed that this was a case of self-defense.

Sanchez will be charged after he is released from the hospital. The victim who was shot is also recovering at a hospital.
